Time-dependent oxidation of graphite and cobalt oxide nanoparticles as electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction

Theophile Niyitanga et al.

Summary: In this study, cobalt oxide and oxidized graphite composite catalyst was synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method for the oxygen evolution reaction. The optimal catalyst demonstrated the best catalytic performance with low overpotential and small Tafel slope, attributed to the presence of oxygen functional groups which induced a high electrochemical surface area, additional active site exposure, fast electron transfer, and enhanced dispersion of the catalyst.

Corrosion performance and biological properties of electrophoretically deposited bioactive glass-zirconia core-shell composite coating on Ti6Al4V substrate

B. Hoomehr et al.

Summary: A bioactive glass-zirconia core-shell composite coating was studied to improve the biological and corrosion performance of the Ti6Al4V substrate. The coating showed higher barrier performance and maintained bioactivity compared to a bioactive glass coating group. Additionally, the core-shell coating exhibited non-cytotoxicity and promoted cell proliferation, possibly due to the presence of a zirconia shell for pH control.

Inhibitory effects of hematite nanoparticles on corrosion protection function of TiO2 coating prepared by plasma electrolytic oxidation

Amin Hoseini et al.

Summary: The addition of hematite nanoparticles (HNPs) in the preparation of titanium substrate surface oxide coatings has been shown to play a key role in inhibiting corrosion performance, promoting uniformity and stability of the oxide layer, accelerating growth rate, and reducing inherent defects. This leads to improved thermodynamic stability of the coatings in corrosive medium, reduced dissolution kinetics of the substrate, and increased corrosion resistance of the bilayer microstructure.

New Insight into the Characterization of Graphene Oxide and Reduced Graphene Oxide Monolayer Flakes on Si-Based Substrates by Optical Microscopy and Raman Spectroscopy

K. Kanishka H. De Silva et al.

Summary: A new insight into the characterization of GO and thermally reduced GO monolayer flakes deposited on different commonly used Si-based substrates by Raman spectroscopy along with optical visualization has been reported. The study found that dielectric substrates with lower reflectance in the visible range provide better optical contrast and generate intense Raman signals under normal white light illumination. Additionally, a Si substrate with a 90 nm SiO2 layer was shown to offer the highest I-G'/I-G ratio and better optical visibility for monolayer RGO flakes.
