Dichlorinated Dithienylethene-Based Copolymers for Air-Stable n-Type Conductivity and Thermoelectricity

Jinfeng Han et al.

Summary: By coupling difluoro- and dichloro-substituted forms of the electron-deficient unit BDOPV with the donor moiety ClTVT, two donor-acceptor (D-A) polymers were obtained with different conductivity and power factors when doped with N-DMBI and CoCp2. The air stability and performance of the doped devices were significantly influenced by the choice of polymers and dopants, as observed through X-ray scattering and atomic force microscopy.

Acene Ring Size Optimization in Fused Lactam Polymers Enabling High n-Type Organic Thermoelectric Performance

Hu Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, three n-type fused lactam semiconducting polymers were synthesized via a transition-metal free aldol polycondensation method, showing progressively larger electron affinities as the central acene core size decreases. The N-N and A-N polymers exhibited the highest charge carrier mobilities and power factors among the three polymers, representing promising candidates for high-performance n-type materials in thermoelectric applications. The results highlight the effectiveness of modulating the size of the central acene ring as a molecular design strategy to optimize the electronic and thermoelectric performance of conjugated polymers.

Achieving Efficient n-Doping of Conjugated Polymers by Molecular Dopants

Yang Lu et al.

Summary: Molecular doping is a central proposition in organic electronics, involving intermolecular charge transfer between organic conjugated materials and molecular dopants. While there is a focus on improving p-doping efficiency and electrical conductivity, the development of n-type molecular doping lags behind. Efficient p- and n-type molecular doping are both essential for organic electronic devices, emphasizing the need to achieve efficient n-doping in conjugated polymers.

Unconventional Thermoelectric Materials for Energy Harvesting and Sensing Applications

Matteo Massetti et al.

Summary: The study of thermoelectric materials has shifted towards the use of carbon-based semiconductors, which are attracting attention due to their high abundance of atomic elements, easy processing, and low thermal conductivity. Constant discoveries of new materials and concepts have expanded the applications of thermoelectric materials. This review is divided into three sections, covering the basic principles of thermoelectric effects, efforts on developing devices utilizing these effects, and investigations on state-of-the-art thermoelectric materials.
