Pilot Validation of a New Wireless Patch System as an Ambulatory, Noninvasive Tool That Measures Gut Myoelectrical Signals: Physiologic and Disease Correlations

Lindsay Axelrod et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the feasibility of using a novel wireless patch system to continuously record myoelectric intestinal activity noninvasively in various clinical settings. The results show potential for assessing gastrointestinal function and managing motility disorders. Further research is needed to validate and optimize the use of this technology for patient care.

Mechanical lengthening of porcine small intestine with decreased forces

Lauren S. Y. Wood et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that a spring constant of at least 2 N/m exerting a minimum force of 0.10 N significantly lengthens intestinal segments and stimulates intestinal structural changes at postoperative day 7 and 14. The stronger the spring force, the greater the induced thickness of various intestinal layers, and collagen fiber orientation becomes more disordered.
