Summary: The study indicated that Medicare patients undergoing short-stay shoulder arthroplasty did not experience a significantly higher rate of unplanned 90-day readmission compared to privately insured patients, despite the more severe comorbidity profile in Medicare patients. The type of shoulder arthroplasty performed had a significant impact on readmission rates, but readmission rates were similar between Medicare and privately insured patients undergoing the same type of arthroplasty.
