Potassium citrate-derived carbon nanosheets/carbon nanotubes/polyaniline ternary composite for supercapacitor electrodes

Xiaodong Hong et al.

Summary: In this study, bamboo-like carbon nanotubes were grown on potassium citrate-derived carbon nanosheets (PC-Cs) to prepare a PC-Cs/CNTs composite. The PC-Cs/CNTs were further modified with in-situ polymerization of polyaniline (PANI) to fabricate a PC-Cs/CNTs/PANI ternary composite. The optimized composite exhibited excellent electrochemical performance, including high capacitance and cycling stability.

Lamellar hierarchical lignin-derived porous carbon activating the capacitive property of polyaniline for high-performance supercapacitors

Fangbao Fu et al.

Summary: Lignin porous carbons have shown potential as carbon electrode materials for supercapacitors, but their low capacitance has been a problem. Combining lignin porous carbons with polyaniline can achieve high capacitance, but the poor compatibility between the two materials has hindered their application. In this study, three different geometries of lignin porous carbons were used as hosts to anchor polyaniline for carbon/polyaniline composites. It was found that the lamellar hierarchical lignin porous carbon with crumpled nanosheets provided a large surface area for nucleation of aniline, resulting in uniform loading of interpenetrating polyaniline nanofibers. The resulting lamellar hierarchical porous carbon/polyaniline composite exhibited high capacitance at different current densities. This work provides guidance for designing carbon hosts in high-performance supercapacitor composite electrodes.

A complex study of the dependence of the re duce d graphite oxide electrochemical behavior on the annealing temperature and the type of electrolyte

Anna A. Iurchenkova et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of thermal treatment on the functional composition and electrochemical performance of reduced graphite oxide (RGO), showing that thermal annealing can modify the surface functional groups of RGO. The formation of quinoid groups and sequential removal of oxygen-containing functional groups during annealing process were observed. The specific capacities of materials were found to be dependent on the electrolyte type, with the highest capacitance detected in 1M NaOH at a scan rate of 2 mVs(-1).

Relationships between polypyrrole synthesis conditions, its morphology and electronic structure with supercapacitor properties measured in electrolytes with different ions and pH values

A. . A. . Iurchenkova et al.

Summary: This study focuses on exploring the impact of different synthetic media on the atomic and electronic structure of polypyrrole, as well as its electrochemical properties in various electrolytes. It demonstrates that the properties of polypyrrole are closely related to the synthetic medium, nitrogen species, and oxygen-containing functional groups in the structure of the polymer. The specific capacitance of polypyrrole produced in acetonitrile is stable and reaches approximately 385 F g(-1) in 1M KCl aqueous solution over 10,000 cycles.

Comparative Study of the Structural Features and Electrochemical Properties of Nitrogen-Containing Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes after Ion-Beam Irradiation and Hydrochloric Acid Treatment

Petr M. Korusenko et al.

Summary: A detailed study was conducted on nitrogen-containing multi-walled carbon nanotubes (N-MWCNTs) and their modified derivatives to investigate the relationship between their structure and electrochemical properties. It was found that treatment of the nanotubes can lead to an increase in specific capacitance due to an increase in redox capacitance. The rate of redox reactions involving oxygen-containing functional groups (OCFGs) was significantly higher than reactions with nitrogen inclusions in the pyridinic and pyrrolic forms.
