Adsorption, kinetics and thermodynamics studies of methyl orange dye sequestration through chitosan composites films

Shah Hussain et al.

Summary: Different films containing pure chitosan and chitosan-coated zeolites were used for the sequestration of methyl orange dye. Results showed that CSZ3 had the highest adsorption capacity while CSZ4 had the lowest. Various analysis methods such as multilayer adsorption and pseudo-second order kinetics were used to explore the adsorption kinetics, equilibrium, and thermodynamics of the dye.

Synthesis, Characterization, and Application of Carboxymethyl Cellulose from Asparagus Stalk End

Warinporn Klunklin et al.

Summary: Cellulose from asparagus stalk end was successfully synthesized into carboxymethyl cellulose (CMCas) through carboxymethylation reaction with varying sodium hydroxide (NaOH) concentrations. The optimal condition for producing CMCas was determined to be 30% NaOH concentration, resulting in the highest percent yield and degree of substitution. The mechanical properties and crystallinity of CMCas were found to be influenced by NaOH concentration.

Potential application of Allium Cepa seeds as a novel biosorbent for efficient biosorption of heavy metals ions from aqueous solution

Ziviqar Sheikh et al.

Summary: The study investigated the potential of ACSB as a biosorbent for removing heavy metals such as Cr(VI), Cd(II), Zn(II), Cu(II) and Pb(II), finding that ACSB is more effective in removing Pb(II), Cu(II), and Cd(II). By optimizing parameters such as pH, time, dosage, and initial metal concentration, the study identified the conditions under which maximum removal efficiency could be achieved. The results also showed that ACSB followed a pseudo 2nd order sorption kinetics for the removal of metal ions.
