Optical Properties of Few-Layer Ti3CN MXene: From Experimental Observations to Theoretical Calculations

Lingfeng Gao et al.

Summary: This paper investigates carrier relaxation and broadband nonlinear optical responses of few-layer Ti3CN MXene nanosheets through transient absorption and Z-scan techniques. The results are complemented by first-principle theoretical analyses, showing both saturable absorption and reverse saturable absorption phenomena due to multiphoton absorption effects. This adds to the understanding of basic photophysical processes and benefits the further design of MXene-based devices.

Coupling of N-Doped Mesoporous Carbon and N-Ti3C2 in 2D Sandwiched Heterostructure for Enhanced Oxygen Electroreduction

Zhaolin Gou et al.

Summary: 2D heterostructures provide a competitive platform for tailoring electrical properties. However, achieving synergistic interlayer interactions between 2D materials remains a challenge. In this study, electronically coupled N-doped mesoporous defective carbon and nitrogen modified titanium carbide (Ti3C2) in a 2D sandwiched heterostructure were synthesized. The resulting heterostructure exhibited superior performance in the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and demonstrated excellent methanol tolerance and cyclic durability. This research opens up new possibilities for tailoring interlayer interactions in 2D materials.

Structural, electronic and optical properties of hexagonal boron-nitride (h-BN) monolayer: An Ab-initio study

Akshay M. Satawara et al.

Summary: The ab-initio study on hexagonal boron-nitride (h-BN) revealed it to be a wide band gap semiconductor with positive phonon frequencies, making it dynamically stable. Optical properties analysis showed maximum absorption in the UV region at 14.87 eV, with h-BN being a potential material for catalyst synthesis and nano-electronic devices.
