Generalized hydrodynamics of the attractive non-linear Schrodinger equation

Rebekka Koch et al.

Summary: By studying the generalized hydrodynamics of the one-dimensional classical non-linear Schrodinger equation in the attractive phase, we find that the thermodynamic limit is entirely controlled by solitonic modes and radiation is absent. Our results are derived by considering the semiclassical limit of the quantum Bose gas, where the Planck constant plays a key role as a regulator of the classical soliton gas. We use our results to investigate adiabatic interaction changes from the repulsive to the attractive phase, observing soliton production and obtaining exact analytical results that align excellently with Monte Carlo simulations.

Kinetic Equation for Soliton Gas: Integrable Reductions

E. Ferapontov et al.

Summary: This paper studies the macroscopic dynamics of soliton gases and finds that they can be described by the thermodynamic limit of the Whitham equations, resulting in a kinetic equation for the density of states. By using a delta-functional ansatz, the kinetic equation for soliton gas is reduced to a non-diagonalizable system of hydrodynamic type with multiple 2 x 2 Jordan blocks in its matrix. The integrability of this system is demonstrated by showing the existence of a hierarchy of commuting hydrodynamic flows and its solvability using an extension of the generalized hodograph method.

Recent developments in spectral theory of the focusing NLS soliton and breather gases: the thermodynamic limit of average densities, fluxes and certain meromorphic differentials; periodic gases

Alexander Tovbis et al.

Summary: This paper investigates soliton and breather gases for the one-dimensional integrable focusing nonlinear Schrodinger equation (fNLS). The average densities and fluxes of these gases are derived by studying the thermodynamic limit of the finite gap solutions of fNLS. The thermodynamic limits of quasimomentum, quasienergy, and their connections with the corresponding g-functions are established. The notion of periodic fNLS gases is introduced, and the average densities, fluxes, and thermodynamic limits of meromorphic differentials for these gases are calculated. Certain accuracy estimates of the obtained results are also provided.

Quasiparticle kinetic theory for Calogero models

Vir B. Bulchandani et al.

Summary: In both quantum and classical Calogero models, the quasiparticle kinetic theory reduces to the free-streaming Boltzmann equation. A Bethe-Lax correspondence is developed in the classical case to reconcile the simple emergent behavior with the strongly interacting character of the model. This framework provides a simple description of multi-soliton solutions in a harmonic trap, showing excellent agreement with numerical simulations for both integrable and non-integrable cases.

Soliton gas in integrable dispersive hydrodynamics

Gennady A. El

Summary: This study reviews the spectral theory of soliton gases in integrable dispersive hydrodynamic systems by presenting both a phenomenological approach based on phase shifts in pairwise soliton collisions and a more detailed theory modeling soliton gas dynamics by a thermodynamic limit of modulated finite-gap spectral solutions of the Korteweg-de Vries and focusing NLS equations. The integrability properties of the kinetic equation for soliton gas are discussed, and physically relevant solutions are compared with direct numerical simulations of dispersive hydrodynamic systems.

Rigorous Asymptotics of a KdV Soliton Gas

M. Girotti et al.

Summary: We analytically study a new broad class of solutions of the KdV equation, showing that the gas of solitons formed by N solitons in the limit N ->∞ gives rise to a Riemann-Hilbert problem. We establish an asymptotic description of this gas of solitons for large times over the entire spatial domain, in terms of Jacobi elliptic functions.

Generalized hydrodynamics in strongly interacting 1D Bose gases

Neel Malvania et al.

Summary: The theory of generalized hydrodynamics (GHD) shows promise in efficiently simulating nearly integrable systems, as demonstrated in experiments with ultracold 1D Bose gases. The results indicate that GHD can accurately describe the quantum dynamics of such systems, even with low particle numbers and rapid density changes.
