The phosphorescence nanocomposite thin film with rich oxygen vacancy: Towards sensitive oxygen sensor

Jian Yao et al.

Summary: Organic room temperature phosphorescent (ORTP) materials provide a promising research direction for phosphorescent oxygen (O-2) sensors due to their high sensitivity and rapid response to O-2. The use of organic phosphorescent indicator carbon dots, inorganic matrix layered double hydroxides, and polymers successfully prepared an ultra-long RTP composite film, with phosphorescence decay intensity linearly related to O-2 concentration. Utilizing the abundant O-2 defects on the surface of the inorganic matrix LDHs to adsorb O-2 accelerates phosphorescence quenching and improves O-2 response, offering a new perspective for high-sensitivity phosphorescent O-2 sensors.

Exploration of Room-Temperature Phosphorescence and New Mechanism on Carbon Dots in a Polyacrylamide Platform and their Applications for Anti-Counterfeiting and Information Encryption

Hui-yong Wang et al.

Summary: This study reports the development of full-color afterglow composites composed of four multicolored carbon dots (CDs) in a polyacrylamide (PAM) matrix. The CDs@PAM composites exhibit adjustable four-color room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP). The abundant amide groups in PAM are connected to the functional groups in CDs through hydrogen bonds, which enhance the stability of the RTP and hinder the emission of phosphorescence. The composites show multi-color fluorescence as well as full-color RTP, making them promising for anti-counterfeiting and information encryption.
