Experimental Study of the Validity of Entangled Two-Photon Absorption Measurements in Organic Compounds

Samuel Corona-Aquino et al.

Summary: In this study, the authors conducted a comprehensive experimental investigation on entangled two-photon absorption (ETPA) in organic molecules. They found that the previously observed ETPA signal was actually caused by linear losses rather than ETPA. They also discovered a surprising two-photon signal for higher Rhodamine B concentrations that did not correspond to ETPA, contrary to expectations.

Quantum Light-Enhanced Two-Photon Imaging of Breast Cancer Cells

Oleg Varnavski et al.

Summary: Correct biological interpretation from cell imaging can only be achieved when there is minimal disturbance from the imaging system. In this study, we demonstrated the creation of microscopic images of breast cancer cells using fluorescence selectively excited at a much lower intensity compared to classical two-photon microscopy. The low intensity used in entangled two-photon microscopy is critical in minimizing photobleaching and cell damage, opening new possibilities for cell investigations.

Second Linear Response Theory and the Analytic Calculation of Excited-State Properties

Martin A. Mosquera et al.

Summary: The method presented in this study calculates permanent and transition multipoles of excited states based on second linear response TDDFT with only a single linear response calculation required. The properties of excited states are evaluated analytically through algebraic operations, focusing on full many-body wave functions. The proposed method is tested on diatomic and triatomic molecules, showing consistent results with reference equation-of-motion coupled-cluster calculations.

Enhancing Entangled Two-Photon Absorption for Picosecond Quantum Spectroscopy

Ryan K. Burdick et al.

Summary: Research shows that spectral-spatial coupling plays a significant role in determining the cross-section of entangled two-photon absorption, especially when the entanglement time is greater than about 100 fs. Experimental results indicate that for type-I ETPA, the cross-section increases as the SPDC bandwidth decreases to 0.1 ps(-1).

Controlling Quantum Interference between Virtual and Dipole Two-Photon Optical Excitation Pathways Using Phase-Shaped Laser Pulses

J. Lahiri et al.

Summary: The research controls the quantum interference between two optical excitation pathways by using phase-shaped femtosecond laser pulses, leading to enhancements in two-photon-excited fluorescence. Simulations show good agreement with experimental measurements, indicating potential applications in enhancing signal intensity in various spectroscopic techniques.

Quantum-enhanced nonlinear microscopy

Catxere A. Casacio et al.

Summary: A quantum microscope utilizing quantum photon correlations achieves a signal-to-noise ratio beyond the photodamage limit of conventional microscopy, improving imaging precision and resolution of biological structures within cells. Coherent Raman microscopes, incorporating bright quantum correlated illumination, offer subwavelength resolution and enhanced concentration sensitivity, enabling observation of previously unresolved biological structures. Overcoming the photodamage limit allows for significant improvements in signal-to-noise ratio and imaging speed.

Energy-time-entangled two-photon molecular absorption

D. Tabakaev et al.

Summary: This study experimentally demonstrates the linear dependence of entangled two-photon absorption (ETPA) rate with the photon-pair rate and estimates the concentration-dependent ETPA cross section for Rhodamine 6G. It also investigates the signature of energy-time entanglement and polarization dependence in the ETPA fluorescence rate, showing a strong dependence of the signal on the interphoton delay.
