Low-resistance contact in MoSe2-based solid-state thermionic devices

Md Golam Rosul et al.

Summary: This paper studies solid-state thermionic structures made from layered van der Waals heterostructures using first-principles calculations combined with the Green's function method. By calculating the electron-phonon relaxation length, the authors confirm ballistic transport in these structures. They study the effect of different factors on the performance of MoSe2-based thermionic converters and show that low-energy barriers and low-resistance metallic contacts are crucial for high-performance thermionic diodes. They also find that asymmetry does not improve performance within the linearized transport theory, in contrast to vacuum-based thermionic diodes.

Novel two-dimensional beta-XTe (X = Ge, Sn, Pb) as promising room-temperature thermoelectrics

Yuxiang Ni et al.

Summary: In this paper, novel low-symmetry 2D structures based on conventional XTe thermoelectrics were designed, showing good stability, high electron carrier mobility, and ultralow thermal conductivity. The origin of the ultralow thermal conductivity was found to be related to the unique electronic structure of beta-XTe. Additionally, the high power factor in beta-GeTe and beta-SnTe was attributed to the convergence of the low-lying conduction band, leading to superior ZT values compared to high-symmetry 2D alpha-XTe and commercial thermoelectrics.

PERTURBO: A software package for ab initio electron-phonon interactions, charge transport and ultrafast dynamics

Jin-Jian Zhou et al.

Summary: PERTURBO is a software package for first-principles calculations of charge transport and ultrafast carrier dynamics in materials, focusing on electron-phonon interactions. It can compute phonon-limited transport properties and simulate ultrafast nonequilibrium electron dynamics, with support for various interpolations and efficient parallelization for large-scale calculations.
