Electronically Weak Coupled Bilayer MoS2 at Various Twist Angles via Folding

Xiaojia Du et al.

Summary: Constructing a bilayer system with defined twist angles can effectively engineer the physical properties of 2D materials, leading to a new research area of twistronics. This study presents a strategy for the large-scale fabrication of twisted bilayer MoS2, with various twist angles tuning Raman mode frequencies and optical transition energies. The folded bilayers exhibit extremely high photoluminescence with doubled intensity compared to unfolded monolayers, showing potential applications in optoelectronic devices.

Salt-assisted growth of monolayer MoS2 for high-performance hysteresis-free field-effect transistor

Sameer Kumar Mallik et al.

Summary: The growth of a salt-assisted large scale, high-quality monolayer MoS2 has demonstrated the realization of a high-performance hysteresis-free field-effect transistor. Density functional theory calculations were used to study the effects of the Schottky barrier and metal-induced gap states, while the role of absorbed molecules and oxide traps on hysteresis was also investigated. The research achieved a hysteresis-free intrinsic transistor behavior and high field-effect mobility in salt-assisted monolayer MoS2 FETs, showing potential for future device applications in memory, logic, and sensor systems.

Phonon renormalization in reconstructed MoS2 moire superlattices

Jiamin Quan et al.

Summary: The phonon spectra in MoS2 twisted bilayers are renormalized due to ultra-strong coupling between different phonon modes and atomic reconstructions of the moire pattern, providing new insights into moire physics. A low-energy continuum model for phonons has been developed to successfully capture experimental observations and reveal the rapid evolution of phonon spectra over a range of small twist angles. Remarkably, simple optical spectroscopy experiments can offer information on strain and lattice distortions in nanometre-size moire crystals.

Electric Field-Modulated Charge Transfer in Geometrically Tailored MoX2/WX2 (X = S, Se) Heterostructures

Sandhyarani Sahoo et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigated the vertical electric-field-controlled interlayer charge transfer in stacked MoX2/WX2 (X=S, Se) heterostructures using density functional theory. The electric field was found to modulate band alignment, band inversion, and charge localization/delocalization in these structures, providing insight into charge transfer mechanisms. The findings suggest that interlayer charge transfer can be modulated by vertical electric fields, which has important implications for tuning electron-hole recombination and charge-transfer time in optoelectronic devices.
