Cell-membrane-inspired polymers for constructing biointerfaces with efficient molecular recognition

Kazuhiko Ishihara et al.

Summary: Fabrication of devices for accurate recognition, detection, and separation of target molecules is crucial in biotechnology. Biomolecules are complexed with a substrate to recognize and capture specific molecules from mixtures. This article summarizes the use of polymeric materials to construct biointerfaces that mimic the structure and properties of cell membranes. The requirements for biointerfaces to prevent non-specific interactions and the issue of protein adsorption are discussed, along with methodologies for stable formation of these interfaces on material surfaces.

Chemical Structural Effects of Amphipathic and Water-soluble Phospholipid Polymers on Formulation of Solid Dispersions

Kensuke Yoshie et al.

Summary: Amphipathic MPC polymers are ideal carriers for solid dispersions to promote drug dissolution and maintain supersaturation. The structure of the side chains and the molar ratio of MPC units in the polymer significantly influence the dissolution rate and the maintenance of supersaturation. Hydrophobic side chains or a high percentage of hydrophobic units can prolong drug supersaturation, while urethane groups that interact with drug molecules may affect the maintenance of supersaturation.
