Summary: A simple and effective protocol for synthesizing dihydropyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine derivatives using 2-aminoethanesulfonic acid in water was presented. This method produced uracil annulated heterocycles with good to excellent yields, offering operational simplicity, easy workup, superior green credentials, and the ability to reuse the catalyst multiple times without significant loss in activity.
