N-diethylaminosalicylidene based turn-on fluorescent Schiff base chemosensor for Al3+ ion: Synthesis, characterisation and DFT/TD-DFT studies

Mukesh Kumar et al.

Summary: A Schiffbase chemosensor based on the 4-(N,N-Diethylamino)salicylaldehyde moiety has been synthesized and shows high selectivity for Al3+ ion. The chemosensor exhibits significant intensity enhancement for Al3+ ion and demonstrates fluorescence behavior in a variety of solvents. The optical and electronic properties of the complex were explained using Time Dependent-Density Functional Theory (TD-DFT).

A new water-soluble polymer fluorescent chemosensor with thiophene Schiff base site for selectively sensing Al3+ ions

Yuhang Xu et al.

Summary: A new fluorescent chemosensor PEGSB based on thiophene Schiff base has been developed for efficient detection of aluminum ions in water, showing high selectivity and sensitivity even in the presence of competitive metal ions. The sensor displayed excellent sensing capability for aluminum ions over a wide pH range and demonstrated improved reversibility for aluminum ion detection with EDTA. An INHIBIT logic gate was successfully constructed using aluminum ions and EDTA as input signals with fluorescence intensity at 444 nm as the output signal. Additionally, test papers with PEGSB were fabricated for convenient and rapid detection of aluminum ions in real water samples.

2-Hydroxynaphthalene based acylhydrazone as a turn-on fluorescent chemosensor for Al3+ detection and its real sample applications

Yucun Liu et al.

Summary: The synthesized fluorescent chemosensor showed high selectivity and sensitivity for Al3+, with a detection limit of 4.22 x 10(-8) M and a stability constant of 4.82 x 10(4) M-1. The 1:1 binding stoichiometry of the compound to Al3+ was confirmed from the Job's plot based on fluorescence titrations.

3-Hydroxy-2-naphthoic hydrazide as a probe for fluorescent detection of cyanide and aluminium ions in organic and aquo-organic media and its application in food and pharmaceutical samples

R. Shanmugapriya et al.

Summary: 3-hydroxy-2-naphthoic hydrazide (RS2) is selected for its rapid fluorescent response and high sensitivity to CN and Al (III) ions in various media. The detection mechanism of RS2 for Al(III) involves chelation-enhanced fluorescence (CHEF), and it has been successfully applied to detect CN and Al(III) ions in food materials and pharmaceutical samples.
