Synthesis and photophysical properties of ternary β-diketonate europium (III) complexes incorporating bipyridine and its derivatives

Terbium complexes of an asymmetric β-diketone: Preparation, photophysical and thermal investigation

Summary: In this study, novel ternary complexes of terbium were prepared using chromophoric 1,3-diketone ligand and differently substituted 2,2'-bipyridines as auxiliary ligands. The coordination of diketone and ancillary ligand to the Tb(III) ion was confirmed by infrared spectral analysis. The complexes showed efficient sensitization of Tb3+ ion and exhibited green emission. Thermogravimetric measurements revealed their thermal stability. The optical and electronic band gaps of the complexes were in good agreement, highlighting their potential as semiconductor materials.

The synthesized compounds showed energy band gap values between 3.0-4.5 eV and exhibited intense broad band emission spectra in the visible region upon excitation in the ultraviolet region. Geometry and frontier molecular orbitals calculation were carried out using Avogadro and ORCA software for further analysis.

Synthesis and photoluminescence characterization of the complexes of samarium dibenzoylmethanates with 1,10-phenanthroline derivatives

Preparation and optical investigation of green luminescent ternary terbium complexes with aromatic β-diketone

Summary: Green luminescent terbium complexes were synthesized based on derivatives of 1,10-phenanthroline auxiliary ligand and 1-phenyl-1,3-butanedione (PBD). The complexes displayed four emission peaks under UV excitation, with the hypersensitive peak at 547 nm responsible for the characteristic green emission. Absorption and electrochemical analysis confirmed the potential application of the synthesized complexes in lighting and displays, and their comparable optical and electronic band gaps suggested their use as semiconductor materials.
