Cuprous-based composite ionic liquids for the selective absorption of CO: Experimental study and thermodynamic analysis

Duan-Jian Tao et al.

Summary: In this study, three cuprous-based composite ionic liquids were synthesized and one of them ([EimH][OAc]-0.6CuOAc) displayed the highest CO absorption capacity and CO/N-2 selectivity. It was found that the superior CO absorption capacity was attributed to two types of chemical interaction between the active anionic species and CO. Additionally, a deactivated ionic liquid model was proposed to accurately describe the CO absorption behavior, and the thermodynamic parameters were estimated based on experimental solubilities of CO.

Highly efficient absorption of carbon dioxide by EG-assisted DBU-based deep eutectic solvents

Hui Fu et al.

Summary: This study synthesized superbase-based deep eutectic solvents (DESs) with different active sites for CO2 capture, and found that the presence of ethylene glycol (EG) played a crucial role in enhancing CO2 absorption capacity. By analyzing experimental results, it was determined that the synergistic interaction between IL and EG contributes to the improved CO2 absorption performance observed in the DESS.

Carbon dioxide capture by new DBU-based DES: The relationship between ionicity and absorptive capacity

Hui Fu et al.

Summary: In this study, DBU/imine, DBU/imide DESs were synthesized as CO2 trapping agents, and the ionicity was found to be a key factor affecting the absorption capacity. A new CO2 capture mechanism was proposed based on ionicity calculation, and DBU/2-Pyrrolidinone and DBU/Oxazolidinone were identified as effective CO2 trapping agents with high absorption capacity under specific mole ratios.

Synthesis of Guanidinium-Based Poly(ionic liquids) with Nonporosity for Highly Efficient SO2 Capture from Flue Gas

Fei-Feng Mao et al.

Summary: A novel type of guanidinium-based poly(ionic liquid) with nonporosity was designed and prepared, showing high SO2 capacity and selectivity while excluding adsorption of CO2 and N-2. The nonporous poly(ionic liquids) demonstrated excellent performance in removing SO2 from flue gas.

Highly efficient and selective separation of ammonia by deep eutectic solvents through cooperative acid-base and strong hydrogen-bond interaction

Yongde Ma et al.

Summary: This study developed a novel class of deep eutectic solvents (DESs) with weak acid sites and strong hydrogen-bond donating sites for efficient and reversible NH3 absorption. NH3 absorption in DESs was found to be chemical in nature with strong interaction between NH3 and DESs, leading to attractive NH3 solubilities at low pressures. The absorption of NH3 in DESs is easy to reverse by heating and evacuating, with little interference from N-2 and H-2 absorption.

Investigation of phenolic ionic liquids as efficient nitric oxide absorbents

Wentao Zheng et al.

Summary: A series of phenolic ILs with different cations were synthesized and found to have excellent absorption performance for nitric oxide (NO), with their absorbability largely affected by the cationic bond-donating ability. These ILs may be used as promising absorbents for NO capture, as supported by the research findings.
