Experimental and theoretical investigation of corrosion inhibition effect of two piperazine-based ligands on carbon steel in acidic media

Majid Rezaeivala et al.

Summary: This study compares the corrosion inhibition of carbon steel in 1.0 M HCl solutions containing different concentrations of inhibitors (1) and (2). The morphology and chemical composition of the samples were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The results show that the reduced form of inhibitor (2) exhibits better corrosion resistance. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy further confirms that increasing the concentration of the inhibitors decreases the double layer capacitance and increases the charge transfer resistance. These findings are also supported by the SEM images. In addition, theoretical calculations provide insights into the inhibitory properties of (1) and (2).

Synthesis and evaluation of nonionic surfactants based on dimethylaminoethylamine: Electrochemical investigation and theoretical modeling as inhibitors during electropolishing in-ortho-phosphoric acid

Asia A. Taha et al.

Summary: Three non-ionic surfactants were synthesized through a simple direct reaction, and their surface and thermodynamic behaviors at different temperatures were determined. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) was found to depend on both hydrophobic chain length and solution temperature, with the synthesized surfactants favoring adsorption at interfaces. The synthesized surfactants were also found to act as good anodic inhibitors on carbon steel in acidic solutions, with adsorption following the Langmuir isotherm.

Summary: This study investigated the corrosion inhibition performance and adsorption mechanism of a new corrosion inhibitor 2C on carbon steel in hydrochloric acid. Results showed that 2C could form a compact protective layer with high inhibition efficiency at a certain concentration. Furthermore, 2C was classified as a mixed class inhibitor affecting both anodic and cathodic reactions, with adsorption following the Langmuir adsorption isotherm.

Electrochemical and theoretical performance of new synthetized pyrazole derivatives as promising corrosion inhibitors for mild steel in acid environment: Molecular structure effect on efficiency

K. Cherrak et al.

Summary: New bi-Pyrazol-Carbohydrazides, M2PyAz and B2PyAz, were synthesized and evaluated for their inhibitor effect against mild steel corrosion in 1 M HCl solution. The inhibitory efficiencies of M2PyAz and B2PyAz were found to be high, with M2PyAz showing excellent corrosion inhibition character due to its molecular size and denticity of electron donor atoms. Results from various experimental and computational methods support the conclusion that both M2PyAz and B2PyAz act as effective corrosion inhibitors in the studied system.

Samy M. Shaban et al.

Summary: This study prepared and tested three new phospho-surfactants as corrosion inhibitors for carbon steel in aggressive HCl medium. The results showed that the surfactant tail length had a significant impact on the corrosion protection process, with longer chain surfactants exhibiting higher inhibition efficiency. The highest inhibition efficiency was achieved at 70 degrees C, following Langmuir adsorption isotherm, with ZGH surfactant showing the highest efficiency compared to other candidates.

Summary: The corrosion inhibition effectiveness of newly synthesized Schiff base derivatives (FMO, FMM, and FMP) on mild steel in a 1.0 M HCl medium was investigated using various methods including weight loss, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, potentiodynamic polarization, and theoretical calculations. The inhibitors showed increased effectiveness with higher concentrations and decreased effectiveness with rising temperature, exhibiting a mixed type nature. Results from AC-impedance technique indicated that the inhibitors followed Langmuir adsorption isotherm and Kinetic-Thermodynamic Model of El-Awady.
