A perspective on multi-component resistance analogy analysis for process intensification: Taking supercritical water gasification of coal as an example

Hui Jin et al.

Summary: Resistance analysis is often limited to specific fields, but engineering applications require the coupling of multiple resistances. Supercritical water gasification offers a clean and low-carbon way for coal hydrogen production, with complete gasification being a prerequisite for industrialization. This paper introduces a novel idea of multi-component resistance analogy analysis to reduce process resistance and achieve process intensification by focusing on interface reaction, boundary layer, and vertex diffusion. Further research will focus on applying resistance analogy analysis to general multiphase flow and optimizing reactor design and scale-up.

In-situ Raman spectral investigation into hydrogen bonding characteristics of supercritical water

Shixing Zhu et al.

Summary: In this paper, a high temperature and pressure visualization platform was used to study the hydrogen bonding degree of water in supercritical conditions. The results showed that hydrogen bonds still exist in supercritical water even at temperatures as high as 1013 K, mainly in the form of dimers and trimers. This finding is of significant importance for understanding the gasification mechanism of coal and organic matter in supercritical water.
