Perovskite CsPbBr3 decorating PbS nanocrystals for efficient near-infrared light-emitting diodes: A first-principles study

Lingxia Zhang et al.

Summary: Decorating PbS with perovskite CsPbBr3 can improve the performance of near-infrared emitting devices. The physical mechanism behind the improved light-emitting efficiency is revealed through electronic structure calculations, showing that the type-I band alignment at the CsPbBr3/PbS interface facilitates the transfer of electrons and holes. The small lattice mismatch and similar octahedral framework at the interface ensure excellent contact and minimal density of gap states. Additionally, CsPbBr3 decoration enhances light absorption in PbS, resulting in enhanced near-infrared light emission.

Synthesis of nano-sized lead sulfide thin films from Avocado (Glycosmis cochinchinensis) Leaf extracts to empower pollution remediation

Abel Saka et al.

Summary: In this study, translucent and nano-crystalline PbS films were prepared on metal substrates using CBD techniques. The synthesized films exhibited cubic crystal structures with crystalline sizes ranging from 0.4 to 0.7 nm. The average energy band gap of the films was found to be 2.43 eV, which is larger than bulk PbS materials. The SEM analysis showed that the PbS films prepared at higher pH values had uniform and adherent surfaces.

Xiaowei Liu et al.

Summary: Inspired by using 2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) as a heavy metal chelator to treat lead, mercury, and arsenic poisoning, a highly efficient approach to synthesize PbS NPs has been developed. This new method is much more efficient than those previously reported and can greatly improve the production of PbS NPs for a broad range of applications. Additionally, all protein-based materials can function as templates for synthesizing PbS NPs due to the prevalent existence of -SS- in natural materials.
