In this study, a single-phase high-entropy perovskite solid solution was synthesized at a low temperature using a solid-phase reaction method. The resulting ceramic material exhibited a high dielectric constant and low dielectric loss. The introduction of heterovalent ions improved the dielectric properties and reduced the residual polarization intensity and coercivity field.
In this study, single-phase high-entropy perovskite [(Bi0.5Na0.5)(0.2)Ba0.2Sr0.2Ca0.2Mg0.2]TiO3 solid solution was synthesized by using solid-phase reaction method at low temperature of 1200 degrees C. Moreover, the ceramics sintered at 1350 degrees C achieved a high dielectric constant (547) as well as a low dielectric loss (0.005) at 1 kHz. The dielectric loss temperature spectrum indicated the relaxation characteristics. For energy storage, the energy storage efficiency reached 93.8% (@1350 degrees C), which was significantly higher than conventional materials. Besides, the introduction of heterovalent ions in high-entropy materials triggered the charge compensation mechanism and formed defect dipole clusters, which not only improved the dielectric constant but also localized the electrons and reduced the dielectric loss. The existence of considerable lattice distortions destroyed the long-range order of ferroelectric materials, thus improved the energy storage efficiency of high-entropy ceramics and reduced the residual polarization intensity and coercivity field.
