Tunable emission, energy transfer and thermal stability of Ce3+ , Tb3+ co-doped Na2BaCa(PO4)2 phosphors

Jiamin Tang et al.

Summary: This study synthesized a series of Ce3+ doped and Ce3+ and Tb3+ co-doped Na2BaCa(PO4)2 (NBCP) phosphors by conventional solid-stated reaction method. The color-tunable emission from blue to green was achieved by adjusting the Tb3+ concentration. The energy transfer efficiency from Ce3+ to Tb3+ ions was found to be as high as 91.5%. The optimal phosphor exhibited excellent thermal stability and has potential applications in general lighting and display fields.

The photoluminescence, thermal properties and tunable color of bright green-emitting Ba3Sc(BO3)3:Ce3+/Tb3+ phosphors via efficient energy transfer

Dan Zhang et al.

Summary: The single-phase Ba3Sc(BO3)(3):Ce3+/Tb3+ samples were synthesized via high-temperature solid-state reaction, characterized by XRD, Rietveld refinement, and TEM. The research discussed in detail the photoluminescence emission and excitation spectra, lifetime decay behavior, and thermal stability of the phosphors. The energy transfer mechanism of Ce3+ to Tb3+ and the temperature-dependent PL spectra of the phosphors demonstrated excellent performance, making the green Ba3Sc(BO3)(3):2%Ce3+,6%Tb3+ phosphor desirable for white LED applications.

Summary: Novel Eu-doped NaBaB9O15 phosphors with Eu2+/Eu3+ co-doping exhibit blue/red dual-band emission, which can be easily tuned for indoor plant growth LEDs by changing synthesis conditions. The emission bands of these phosphors match well with the absorption peaks of chlorophyll, showing their potential as a candidate for indoor plant lighting applications.
