Investigation on dimensional accuracy, compressive strength and measured porosity of additively manufactured calcium sulphate porous bone scaffolds

Kiran Kumar Sahu et al.

Summary: Additive manufacturing technology has been successfully used to fabricate calcium sulphate-based porous bone scaffolds with good dimensional accuracy and compressive strength when fabricated along the x-axis. The fabricated scaffolds showed consistent porosity with the designed values and were found to have no significant toxic effects on cells, providing a favorable environment for cell adhesion and growth.

Large-pore-size Ti6Al4V scaffolds with different pore structures for vascularized bone regeneration

Chao Wang et al.

Summary: The study explored the optimal pore structure and size of Ti6Al4V porous scaffold for repairing large-area bone defects and promoting vascularization in the early stage of osteogenesis. The research found that as pore size increased, cell proliferation and viability also increased, with irregular pore sizes supporting stronger cell vascularization ability compared to regular pore sizes.

Design, mechanical properties and energy absorption capability of graded-thickness triply periodic minimal surface structures fabricated by selective laser melting

Xiaojie Fan et al.

Summary: This study introduces a novel method for designing graded-thickness TPMS structures and summarizes and compares the manufacturability, mechanical properties, and energy absorption capacities of Ti6Al4V graded samples with different thicknesses and TPMS types. The results reveal that constant-thickness TPMS samples exhibit good stiffness, strength, and energy absorption capacities, while graded-thickness samples avoid large stress fluctuations and show higher elastic moduli and cumulative energy absorption values than constant-thickness samples. Additionally, the local curvature distribution predicts the deformation behavior of TPMS structures.
