The surface degradation and its impact on the magnetic properties of bulk VI3

M. Kratochvilova et al.

Summary: VI3, as a hard ferromagnetic van der Waals compound, has recently attracted attention for its potential use in atomically thin spintronic and optoelectronic devices. However, practical exploration is challenging due to its instability under ambient conditions. The presence of moisture accelerates the degradation process, but using selected media can lower the degradation rate.

Doping profiling of beveled Si wafers via UV-micro Raman spectroscopy

Dario Mastrippolito et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that ultraviolet micro-Raman spectroscopy on small-angle beveled surfaces can produce a Raman-based doping profile with high sensitivity and resolution. The technique is able to replicate doping profiles down to 100 nm with excellent sensitivity and vertical resolution, making it suitable for heavy doped silicon in modern nanoelectronics.

Structure and Photoluminescence Properties of Thermally Synthesized V2O5 and Al-Doped V2O5 Nanostructures

Chih-Chiang Wang et al.

Summary: Al-free and Al-doped V2O5 nanostructures were synthesized using a CVD process on Si(100), revealing that Al doping affected the crystallinity of V2O5 and decreased the photoluminescence intensity. The study showed that Al-doped V2O5 nanostructures have potential applications in smart windows and as electrode materials in Li-ion batteries.

Micro-Raman investigation of p-type B doped Si(100) revisited

S. Palleschi et al.

Summary: In this study, the doping concentration of B doped single-crystal Czochralski Si(1 0 0) wafers was accurately monitored via micro-Raman spectroscopy. The characteristics of the Si peak were observed to change with doping concentration, showing linear dependencies for both peak widening and frequency-softening. Furthermore, a linear relationship between the reciprocal Fano asymmetry parameter and excitation energy was verified, providing a direct estimate of the hole-phonon interaction strength.

Stable zero-dimensional cesium indium bromide hollow nanocrystals emitting blue light from self-trapped excitons

Fei Zhang et al.

Summary: This study developed zero-dimensional Cs3InBr6 NCs with intrinsic broadband blue emission, revealing that the excited-state structural distortion enables the formation of self-trapped excitons and hollow NCs with controlled sizes. The remarkable structural and optical stability of Cs3InBr6 NCs may open up new avenues for manufacturing optoelectronic devices.

Emerging oxidized and defective phases in low-dimensional CrCl3

Dario Mastrippolito et al.

Summary: Research on mechanically exfoliated CrCl3 flakes reveals that they spontaneously oxidize upon air exposure, forming an ordered oxidized structure on the surface and chromium oxide at the edges, with thermal stability up to 200 degrees C. The electronic structures of pure monolayer CrCl3 are insulating, while oxidized and defective phases show spin-polarized states and modifications in the band structures.

Pressure-induced large increase of Curie temperature of the van der Waals ferromagnet VI3

J. Valenta et al.

Summary: The evolution of magnetism in single crystals of VI3 under external pressure was studied, showing four magnetic phase transitions and the effects of pressure on magnetic parameters. The results indicate that pressure can affect magnetic behavior, with further investigation on the potential reduction of magnetic moment under pressure.
