Monkeypox DNA levels correlate with virus infectivity in clinical samples, Israel, 2022

Nir Paran et al.

Summary: This study examines the correlation between monkeypox virus infectivity and PCR results, revealing a strong association between viral DNA amount in clinical specimens and infectivity in BSC-1 cell line. A PCR threshold value is defined, which can assist in risk assessment and decision-making regarding protective measures and guidelines for patients with monkeypox.
