Stable isotopic composition of precipitation in a tropical rainforest region of the Niger Delta, Nigeria

Oghenero Ohwoghere-Asuma et al.

Summary: The study of isotopic compositions of precipitation in the western Niger Delta revealed that wet season precipitation is more depleted compared to dry season, with a decrease in isotopic values observed after continuous rainfall events. The regional meteoric water line derived from the data provides a baseline for regional water resources studies in the Niger Delta.

Climate and landscape controls on spatio-temporal patterns of stream water stable isotopes in a large glacierized mountain basin on the Tibetan Plateau

Man Gao et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the isotopic composition of stream water in the Lhasa River basin in the Southern Tibetan Plateau, showing that the δO-18 variation in stream water is linearly related to latitude and longitude in the north, while in the south it is influenced by local moisture recycling and groundwater contributions. Seasonal variations in stream water isotopes were found to be distinct, reflecting different source areas and catchment controls.

Anthropogenic influence on extreme precipitation over global land areas seen in multiple observational datasets

Summary: Climate models predict an intensification of extreme precipitation under climate change, but this effect is difficult to detect in the observational record. Using machine learning methods, a physically interpretable anthropogenic impact on extreme precipitation is found in global observational data sets.
