Raney nickel coupled nascent hydrogen as a novel strategy for enhanced reduction of nitrate and nitrite

Weilai Wang et al.

Summary: Raney nickel coupled with nascent hydrogen (Nas-H-2) can efficiently catalyze the reduction of nitrate and nitrite (NOX-). The micro/nano-sized Nas-H-2 bubbles with fine dispersion of hydrogen molecules exhibit increased reactivity, and the alkaline environment positively maintains the activity of R-Ni. By introducing fine hydrogen resources, an efficient catalytic hydrogenation technique without noble metals can be developed.

Liquid-phase hydrodechlorination of trichloroethylene driven by nascent H2 under an open system: Hydrogenation activity, solvent effect and sulfur poisoning

Weilai Wang et al.

Summary: Liquid-phase hydrogenation using Raney Ni and Pd/C was studied, showing complete removal of TCE through the synergistic effects of nascent H-2 bubbles. Effects of inorganic anions and organic solvents on hydrogenation activity were investigated, providing insight for catalyst selection in actual systems.

Ultrasonication-Enhanced Reduction of Tetrabromobisphenol A by Activating Nascent H2 on Raney Ni Catalyst: Kinetics, Mechanisms, and Hydrogenation Pathways

Weilai Wang et al.

Summary: The study focused on the deep dehalogenation of polyhalogenated organic pollutants using Raney Ni (R-Ni) catalyst and nascent hydrogen (Nas-H-2) bubbles as the hydrogen source, achieving high efficiency with ultrasonication-enhanced effects. The hydrogen utilization in the R-Ni/Nas-H-2 system significantly increased the degradation efficiency of TBBPA, with hydrogen adatoms being the active species promoting the reaction kinetics. Additionally, the gradual hydrodebromination of TBBPA was observed, indicating a decrease in toxicity with the reduction of bromine atoms.
