Near-IR luminescence in Nd3+ ions doped Na2O-BaF2-CaF2-B2O3-TeO2 glasses for 1064 nm laser and fiber amplifier applications

V. Murali Krishna et al.

Summary: In this study, Nd3+ ion-doped Oxy-Fluoro Boro Tellurite (OFBT) glasses were prepared and their luminescence characteristics were investigated. The results showed that OFBTNd10 glass had a high stimulated emission cross-section and could potentially function as a good optical gain material for producing laser at around 1064 nm.

NIR photoluminescence studies of Nd3+ doped B2O3-BaF2-PbF2-Al2O3 glasses for 1.063 μm laser applications

P. Rekha Rani et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the preparation and properties of various concentrations of Nd3+ doped B2O3-BaF2-PbF2-Al2O3 (BaPbAlFB) glasses, and characterizes them through measurements of absorption, photoluminescence, and lifetime. The results indicate the potential of BaPbAlFBNd1.0 glass for applications in fabricating fiber amplifiers and solid-state lasers operating in the near-infrared region at 1063 nm wavelength.

Narrow-band ultraviolet B (UVB) emitting CaZr4(PO4)6 doped with Gd3+ phosphor

Vijay Singh et al.

Summary: In this study, gadolinium-doped calcium zirconium phosphate phosphors emitting ultraviolet light were prepared using co-precipitation method and characterized using various spectroscopic techniques. The samples exhibited rhombohedral phase formation and emission in the ultraviolet B region, with the highest emission observed at 313 nm. The EPR spectra indicated that the addition of lattice ions affects the fluorescence properties of the sample.

A novel Eu2+-activated calcium zirconium silicate phosphor: Ca3ZrSi2O9: Eu2+

Yasushi Sato et al.

Summary: Eu2+-activated Ca3ZrSi2O9 phosphors were synthesized successfully using propylene glycol-modified silane, and the photoluminescence properties were found to be dependent on the total Eu content. Low Eu2+ content resulted in green emission, while high Eu2+ content led to red emission, attributed to Eu2+ occupying different crystallographic sites.

Spectral characterization of Dy3+ ions doped phosphate glasses for yellow laser applications

Sk Mahamuda et al.

Summary: Dy3+ ions doped phosphate glasses were prepared and characterized using various spectroscopic techniques, revealing intense emission bands in blue and yellow regions under 387 nm excitation. Concentration quenching was observed for phosphate glass with 1 mol% of Dy3+ ions, indicating potential dipole-dipole interactions between Dy3+ ions. The spectroscopic features were also used to evaluate the suitability of the glasses for yellow laser applications through stimulated emission cross-sections, branching ratios, quantum efficiencies, and CIE-color coordinates.

Study of optical properties and energy transfer mechanism of Tb3+, Sm3+ singly doped and co-doped ZnS quantum dots

P. M. Tan et al.

Summary: In this study, Tb3+ and Sm3+ ions were co-doped into ZnS quantum dots for the first time using a wet chemical method. The optical properties of Sm3+ ions were studied through various spectroscopic techniques, and the luminescent enhancement of Sm3+ ions in the co-doped sample was attributed to energy transfer from Tb3+ ions. The energy transfer mechanisms were determined using the Inokuti-Hirayama model.

A Study on the Leaching of Rare Earth Elements from Waste Phosphor Powder

Gee Hun Lee et al.

Summary: The study aimed to design a process for recovering rare earth elements from waste phosphor powder. The leaching efficiency of different rare earth elements varied under different conditions, with Yttrium and Europium showing higher leaching rates compared to Cerium, Terbium, and Lanthanum. Roasting with soda ash improved the leaching ratio significantly.
