Geological Characteristics of Shale Gas in Different Strata of Marine Facies in South China

Yufang Wang et al.

Summary: This passage discusses the well-developed marine shale strata in the Middle and Upper Yangtze region of South China, with Wufeng Longmaxi shale gas being the only one developed on a large scale currently. The Sinian and Cambrian shale gases are still in the exploration stage. The different shale strata show varying characteristics in lithological features, influenced by tectonic patterns, sedimentary environments, and diagenesis caused by tectonic subsidence. This will have an impact on fracturing technology and effectiveness in the future.

Evaluation of Shale Reservoir Quality by Geophysical Logging for Shuijingtuo Formation of Lower Cambrian in Yichang Area, Central Yangtze

Xiaohong Chen et al.

Summary: Based on the research object of Shuijingtuo Formation shale in Yichang area, this study comprehensively evaluated and classified the shale reservoir characteristics using laboratory testing and geophysical logging data. The lower part of Shuijingtuo Formation was found to be the most favorable for fracturing, with high content of brittle minerals and porosity.

Controlling Factors on Organic Matter Accumulation of Marine Shale across the Ordovician-Silurian Transition in South China: Constraints from Trace-Element Geochemistry

Zhen Qiu et al.

Summary: This study explores the mechanisms of organic matter accumulation in the Upper Ordovician-Lower Silurian shales in the Upper Yangtze area of South China using trace-element geochemistry and sedimentological methods. The research finds that organic matter enrichment is primarily influenced by sea-level changes and weathering, with paleo-productivity and redox conditions playing key roles.
