Use of near and mid infra-red spectroscopy for analysis of protein, fat, lactose and total solids in raw cow and camel milk

Huda Mohamed et al.

Summary: Both near and mid-infrared transmission spectroscopy showed excellent positive correlations in analyzing protein, fat, lactose, and total solids in cow and camel milk samples (p 0.001). The differences between the two methods may be related to variations in milk homogeneity, especially in relation to casein micelles and fat globules.

Evaluation of colostrum bioactive protein transfer and blood metabolic traits in neonatal lambs in the first 24 hours of life

H. L. Zhu et al.

Summary: This study revealed that feeding bovine colostrum improved the metabolic and immunological status of lambs, with ingested colostral IgG being more readily absorbed into the blood than LF, alpha-LA, and beta-LG. The findings suggest that colostral compounds are selectively absorbed in the small intestine of lambs.

Summary: This study demonstrated that using MSC pretreatment of NIR spectra can enhance the accuracy of qualitative identification of adulterated bovine colostrum. The established PLS-DA model based on MSC pretreated full spectra showed high sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy rate.

Comparative estimation of colostrum quality by Brix refractometry in bovine, caprine, and ovine colostrum

E. C. Kessler et al.

Summary: The study compared the quality estimation of colostrum in cows, goats, and sheep using an optical Brix refractometer. Despite distinct between-species variations in colostrum composition, Brix refractometry proved to be an acceptable tool for on-farm estimations of colostrum quality in goats and sheep.

Rapid identification and quantification of sesame oils adulteration using low frequency dielectric spectroscopy combined with chemometrics

Mahmoud Soltani Firouz et al.

Summary: A new method was developed for detecting adulteration in sesame oil, using PCA model for authentic sesame oil detection and predicting adulteration amounts through artificial neural network and support vector regression. The radial basis function kernel SVR model had the best performance, followed by the ANN model.
