Inflation in a scalar-vector-tensor theory

A. Oliveros et al.

Summary: In this paper, we study inflation in a particular scalar-vector-tensor theory of gravitation without the U(1) gauge symmetry. By constructing a model with specific choices for the Lagrangians and the coupling functions, and analyzing it on a flat FLRW background, we investigate the possibility of obtaining an inflationary regime. We find that by introducing a coupling function, the model allows for a sufficient amount of inflation and satisfies the necessary stability conditions.

Dark energy survey year 3 results: Cosmology with peaks using an emulator approach

D. Zuercher et al.

Summary: In this study, the matter density and the amplitude of density fluctuations within the ΛCDM cosmological model were constrained using shear peak statistics and angular convergence power spectra, leading to a tightening of constraints on the structure growth parameter with improved precision of 1.8%. The combination of angular power spectra and tomographic peak counts breaks the degeneracy between galaxy intrinsic alignment and S-8, improving cosmological constraints. Results are found to be consistent with previous studies using Dark Energy Survey (DES Y3) data.

The S8 tension in light of updated redshift-space distortion data and PAge approximation

Lu Huang et al.

Summary: One of the most prominent challenges to the standard ΛCDM cosmology is the tension between the structure growth parameter S-8 constrained by CMB data and the smaller one suggested by cosmic shear data. Recent studies show that the RSD data also prefers a smaller S-8, but the result is sensitive to the cosmological model. In this work, the RSD constraint on S-8 is updated with the most up-to-date data set, and it is found to be consistent with the CMB constraint. Furthermore, the constraint on S-8 is found to be insensitive to the cosmological model when using a model-independent description of the late universe.

Summary: This study reports observations of Cepheid variables in the host galaxies of 42 Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) using the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) to calibrate the Hubble constant (H (0)). The observations were collected over four decades and significantly improved the precision of the direct determination of H (0). The study presented multiple verifications of Cepheid photometry and explored different analysis variants to assess the sensitivity of H (0) determination. The baseline result for H (0) was found to be 73.04 +/- 1.04 km s(-1) Mpc(-1).

Summary: The early dark energy scenario aims to increase the value of the Hubble constant inferred from cosmic microwave background data by introducing a new form of energy density in the early Universe. In this paper, the EDE model is fitted to CMB data from the ACT, and the existence of EDE is preferred at a high confidence level. This study suggests that future data from ACT and other ground-based experiments will provide a powerful test of the EDE scenario.

Full-shape cosmology analysis of the SDSS-III BOSS galaxy power spectrum using an emulator-based halo model: A 5% determination of σ8

Yosuke Kobayashi et al.

Summary: In this study, the authors present the results of their cosmology analysis based on the redshift-space power spectra of galaxy samples from the SDSS-III BOSS DR12 galaxy catalog. They use an emulator built from N-body simulations to compute the redshift-space power spectrum of halos, and model the galaxy-halo connection using the halo occupation distribution. The authors validate their analysis pipeline using mock catalogs of BOSS-like galaxies and find that their model reproduces the observed power spectra well. They obtain values for cosmological parameters such as Omega(m), H-0, and sigma(8) that are consistent with the Planck CMB results.

Measurements of the Hubble Constant: Tensions in Perspective*

The TRGB results show no statistically significant difference with values determined from the cosmic microwave background, and are also in agreement with other calibration methods such as SHoES and Spitzer plus Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Key Project Cepheid calibrations. The simplicity and small systematic uncertainties of the TRGB method make it a promising tool for exploring cosmological models without the need for additional physics beyond the standard (?CDM) cosmological model.
