The 2019 HPV Labnet international proficiency study: Need of global Human Papillomavirus Proficiency Testing

Summary: This study reports the results of the 2019 global proficiency study on HPV testing and evaluates the trend over time. Most samples were reported with 100% proficiency in most datasets, with the majority of datasets using commercial assays. The analysis shows a steady improvement up to 2017, but a drop in fully proficient datasets in the 2019 proficiency testing, indicating a reversal in the trend of HPV testing services quality.
