A relative quantitation method for measuring DNA methylation and hydroxymethylation using guanine as an internal standard

Krisztina Nemeth et al.

Summary: Global DNA methylation and hydroxymethylation can be accurately quantified using a liquid chromatography - tandem mass spectrometry method, with guanine as an internal standard for relative quantitation. This method allows for the identification of disease biomarkers and requires minimal DNA samples for analysis. Its advantages include reusability of calibration curves and no need for additional isotope labeled internal standards.
