B-doped activated carbon as a support for a high-performance Zn-based catalyst in acetylene acetoxylation

Fulong Zhu et al.

Summary: A boron-doped catalyst was prepared to enhance the conversion rate of CH3COOH in acetylene acetoxylation reaction. The introduction of boron atoms activated the stable p electrons in the catalyst, improving electron transfer and adsorption ability. The boron-doped catalyst demonstrated increased efficiency in CH3COOH conversion.

Do you BET on routine? The reliability of N2 physisorption for the quantitative assessment of biochar's surface area

Przemyslaw Maziarka et al.

Summary: Biochar has a large specific surface area, making it suitable for applications in agriculture and environmental management. N-2 and CO2 characterization were used to evaluate the structural properties of different biochars, revealing that the peak in surface area reported around 650 degrees Celsius may be an artifact of N-2 measurements. The structural rigidity of biochar influences N-2 measurements, suggesting the use of a pore specific calculation model.

Fine Activated Carbon from Rubber Fruit Shell Prepared by Using ZnCl2 and KOH Activation

Suhdi et al.

Summary: The study shows that fine activated carbon prepared with ZnCl2 as activating agent has higher specific surface area and better physical adsorption properties. By adding an appropriate amount of ZnCl2 for activation of rubber fruit shells, a cheap and abundant precursor material for activated carbon with high carbon content can be obtained.
