Effect of active multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) on the energy storage density of DI water for cool thermal storage system

Anbalagan Sathishkumar et al.

Summary: This research investigates the energy saving aspects in cool thermal energy storage system (CTES) by improving the thermophysical properties of deionized (DI) water. The dispersion of chemically functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (f-MWCNT) in DI water is studied experimentally, and the influence on phase change enthalpy, specific heat, thermal conductivity, and cooling rate is examined. The findings demonstrate that the dispersion of f-MWCNT enhances the thermal conductivity and cooling rate of the water, reducing subcooling and enabling CTES system to operate at higher temperatures.

Comparing the effects of Juliflora biodiesel doped with nano-additives on the performance of a compression ignition (CI) engine: Part A

Babalola Aisosa Oni et al.

Summary: Modern research aims to replace fossil fuels with biodiesel for diesel engines, but improving the properties of biofuels remains a challenge. This study explores the use of hybrid nanoparticles to enhance the performance of Juliflora-biofuel in diesel engines. The results show that the addition of nanoparticles increases brake thermal efficiency and reduces emissions of nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, and carbon monoxide, contributing to reduced environmental pollution.

Experimental analysis of CI engine using pyrolyzed plastic oil blended with alumina nano additive

Tarun John Thomas et al.

Summary: The aim of this research is to study the efficiency of Al2O3 nanoparticle as a blending agent and to test the performance characteristics of pyrolyzed plastic oil in an IC engine at EGR conditions. The study found that emission was significantly reduced with the application of nano additive blended fuel, and the P30 blend showed the highest thermal efficiency and pressure.

Performance, combustion and emission characteristics of the CI engine fueled with Botryococcus braunii microalgae with addition of TiO2 nanoparticle

Shengbo Ge et al.

Summary: The study explored the impact of using Botryococcus braunii microalgae mixed with diesel, finding that adding nanoparticles to the microalgae blends can enhance the brake thermal efficiency and reduce brake specific fuel consumption. The addition of mixed fuel with nanoparticles also increases cylinder pressure and heat release rate, while decreasing emissions of CO, HC, and CO2, although NOx emissions remain high despite engine speed for the B30 blend.

An experimental assessment on dual fuel engine behavior powered by waste tire-derived pyrolysis oil - biogas blends

Mustafa Karagoz et al.

Summary: This study investigates the usability and impact of waste tire pyrolysis oil along with diesel and biogas dual fuel in CI engines. The results show that the presence of pyrolysis oil and biogas increases the unburnt emissions, but the introduction of biogas reduces NOx emissions. However, the use of pyrolysis oil worsens engine performance, resulting in increased BSFC and decreased BTE.
