Summary: In this study, millimeter-scale hollow spheres made from cationic chitosan, dimethyl diallyl ammonium chloride, and anionic carboxymethyl cellulose were prepared. The cationic hollow sphere showed excellent adsorption capacity towards anionic dyes, especially reactive black-5. The hollow sphere not only provides a new approach for the preparation of large size hollow spheres but also has broad applications in selective pollutant removal.
