Highly Stable Zr(IV)-Based Metal-Organic Frameworks for Chiral Separation in Reversed-Phase Liquid Chromatography

Hong Jiang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that highly stable Zr-based MOFs can be efficient CSPs for RP-HPLC. By designing and synthesizing three chiral porous Zr(IV)-MOFs with chiral crown ether moieties aligned within framework channels, they show excellent tolerance to water, acid, and base. Under acidic eluent conditions, Zr-MOF-packed HPLC columns provide high resolution, selectivity, and durability for the separation of various racemates.

Chiral metal-organic framework [Co2(D-cam)2(TMDPy)]@Sio2 core-shell microspheres for HPLC separation

Baoyan Yuan et al.

Summary: Chiral metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a promising candidate as new chiral stationary phases (CSPs) for usage in HPLC due to their uniform and adjustable cavities, abundant chiral active sites and excellent chemical stability. In this study, monodisperse homochiral MOF [Co-2(D-cam)(2)(TMDP3)]@SiO2 core-shell composites were prepared using an in-situ growth method, showing improved column efficiency and chiral resolution ability compared to conventional MOF columns. This approach provides a promising platform for the practical applications of chiral MOFs in chiral separation.
