Socioeconomic changes predict genome-wide DNA methylation in childhood

Jiaxuan Liu et al.

Summary: Childhood socioeconomic position has a significant impact on health and well-being throughout life. This study explored the relationship between socioeconomic adversity and DNA methylation (DNAm) in childhood. The findings suggest that changes in socioeconomic environment are associated with differences in DNAm, particularly during middle childhood. The study highlights the importance of socioeconomic stability during childhood and the need for public programs to support children and families facing socioeconomic adversity.
