FOXQ1-mediated SIRT1 upregulation enhances stemness and radio-resistance of colorectal cancer cells and restores intestinal microbiota function by promoting β-catenin nuclear translocation

Mei Yang et al.

Summary: This study reveals the role of FOXQ1 in colorectal cancer (CRC) by modulating the stemness and radio-resistance of CRC cells. It was found that high expression of FOXQ1 is associated with poor prognosis in CRC patients. FOXQ1 enhances the expression and nuclear translocation of SIRT1 and beta-catenin, leading to increased stemness and radio-resistance of CRC cells.

The WNT/β-catenin dependent transcription: A tissue-specific business

Simon Soderholm et al.

Summary: The beta-catenin-mediated Wnt signaling pathway plays a crucial role in embryonic development and tissue homeostasis, with dysfunction leading to developmental malformations and cancer. Despite the collaboration of numerous nuclear factors with beta-catenin in generating transcriptional programs, a unified theory explaining how beta-catenin drives target gene expression is still lacking.
