Ameliorations in dyslipidemia and atherosclerotic plaque by the inhibition of HMG-CoA reductase and antioxidant potential of phytoconstituents of an aqueous seed extract of Acacia senegal (L.) Willd in rabbits

Jaykaran Charan et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the inhibitory effects of phytoconstituents from an aqueous seed extract of Acacia senegal on HMG-CoA reductase and regression of atherosclerotic plaque. The results showed significant inhibition of HMG-CoA reductase in both in-vitro and in-vivo assays, as well as improvement in biomarker indices and reduction in atherosclerotic plaque and antioxidant levels. Molecular docking analysis revealed the interaction capabilities of key phytoconstituents with the target protein.

Flaxseed Lignans and Polyphenols Enhanced Activity in Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Rats

Dan Draganescu et al.

Summary: Diabetes mellitus is a common metabolic condition affecting many people globally. The study investigated the enhanced activity of flaxseed lignans and polyphenols in diabetic rats induced with STZ, showing improved glycemic control and lipid profiles. Flaxseed extract administration led to positive changes in body weight, glucose levels, and various biochemical parameters in the treated rats, while histopathological observations supported the beneficial effects on organ function. The study suggests the potential therapeutic impact of polyphenols and lignans in diabetes management.
