Sustained released of bioactive mesenchymal stromal cell-derived extracellular vesicles from 3D-printed gelatin methacrylate hydrogels

Louis J. Born et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the incorporation of extracellular vesicles (EVs) from mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs) into 3D-printed gelatin methacrylate (GelMA) hydrogel bioink. The initial burst release of EVs can be reduced by increasing the concentration of crosslinker during gelation. The bioactivity of MSC EVs is retained after the 3D printing and photocrosslinking processes, indicating the therapeutic potential of MSC EV-laden GelMA bioinks.

Silk Fibroin Enhances Cytocompatibilty and Dimensional Stability of Alginate Hydrogels for Light-Based Three-Dimensional Bioprinting

Eunu Kim et al.

Summary: The study synthesized alginate derivatives and silk fibroin to prepare bioinks, enhancing cell compatibility, and pregelated them by ionic cross-linking to increase viscosity for 3D printing. The results showed that the new bioink had improved cytocompatibility compared to traditional bioinks, making it a promising material for tissue engineering.

3D printed hybrid bone constructs of PCL and dental pulp stem cells loaded GelMA

Senem Buyuksungur et al.

Summary: The study fabricates 3D printed hybrid scaffolds using PCL and GelMA carrying DPSCs, combining osteoinductivity support from GelMA and mechanical strength from PCL for bone tissue engineering applications. The hybrid scaffolds showed high stability and compressive moduli similar to trabecular bone. DPSCs exhibited high viability and osteogenic differentiation within GelMA, indicating great potential for bone tissue engineering applications.
