Generation of glycan-specific nanobodies

Sana Khan Khilji et al.

Summary: In this study, automated glycan assembly was used to produce structurally homogeneous glycans for the generation of glycan-specific nanobodies. Using defined synthetic glycans, a nanobody that specifically recognizes a tumor-associated carbohydrate antigen was successfully identified, isolated, and produced. These findings demonstrate the potential of our approach for biomedical and biotechnological applications.

Anti-glycan antibodies: roles in human disease

J. Sebastian Temme et al.

Summary: Carbohydrate-binding antibodies play various roles in human health, preventing infections and maintaining microbial homeostasis. While they can be beneficial in reducing infectious diseases, they may also have limitations, such as impacting blood transfusions. Vaccines and monoclonal antibodies also play a significant role in inducing anti-glycan antibodies for protection and therapeutic purposes.
