Kinematic analysis of fault-slip data in the Nanling Tectonic Belt and Cretaceous to Paleogene tectonic evolution of the Central South China Block

Xianbing Xu et al.

Summary: The research reveals multiple tectonic events during the Late Cretaceous and middle Paleogene in the central South China Block, including extensional and compressional regimes. These tectonic events were primarily influenced by the Pacific subduction and the India-Asia collision.

Late Mesozoic Intracontinental Deformation in the Northern Margin of the North China Craton: A Case Study From the Shangyi Basin, Northwestern Hebei Province, China

Qian Yang et al.

Summary: During the late Mesozoic, the North China Craton experienced three phases of intracontinental deformation in the Shangyi Basin, including NW-SE compression, NW-SE extension, and NE-SW compressional deformation. The crust in the study area underwent over 27% horizontal shortening due to the NW-SE compression, with greater contribution from the north side. These tectonic events were influenced by the subduction of the Paleo-Pacific plate, the destruction of the NCC, and the final collision between the Qiangtang and Lhasa terranes.
