Regulation of lung epithelial cell senescence in smoking-induced COPD/emphysema by microR-125a-5p via Sp1 mediation of SIRT1/HIF-1a

Hao Wu et al.

Summary: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) affects more than 300 million people worldwide with no effective drug treatment currently available. Smoking is the main risk factor, but the molecular mechanism through which smoking causes COPD is unclear. The senescence of lung epithelial cells and regulation of miRNAs have been found to be associated with COPD development.

Role of MicroRNA-155 in Triptolide-induced hepatotoxicity via the Nrf2-Dependent pathway

Yao Li et al.

Summary: Triptolide (TP), the main bioactive and toxic ingredient of Tripterygium wilfordii Hook F, induces significant expression of miR-155 in both cells and liver tissues, with the inhibition of miR-155 mitigating TP-induced liver damage. The study also demonstrates that miR-155 plays an important role in TP-induced hepatotoxicity by regulating the Nrf2 signaling pathway.

Protective effects of n-Butanol extract and iridoid glycosides of Veronica ciliata Fisch. Against ANIT-induced cholestatic liver injury in mice

Wan Hua et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the protective effect of Veronica ciliata on liver injury and cholestasis in mice, as well as its mechanism. The results showed that n-Butanol extract (BE) and iridoid glycosides (IG) from Veronica ciliata significantly decreased cholestatic liver injury markers in ANIT-treated mice and relieved liver tissue pathological damages.

Inhibition of miRNA-155 Alleviates High Glucose-Induced Podocyte Inflammation by Targeting SIRT1 in Diabetic Mice

Xiaolei Wang et al.

Summary: miRNA-155 expression is elevated in diabetic nephropathy and cultured podocytes, inhibiting miRNA-155 can reduce proteinuria and ACR levels, improve kidney function, and suppress podocyte inflammation and injury through SIRT1 silencing.

Network Pharmacology-Based Strategy for Elucidating the Molecular Basis Forthe Pharmacologic Effects of Licorice (Glycyrrhiza spp.)

Jia Chen et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the chemical compounds, target proteins, and pharmacologic effects of licorice, revealing its main pharmacologic effects as heat-clearing and detoxifying, spleen-invigorating and qi-replenishing, phlegm-expulsion and cough-suppressant, and spasm-relieving and analgesic effects. Compounds in licorice exhibit distinct pharmacologic effects according to their chemical structure, providing important insights for investigating the potential of licorice in the treatment of various diseases.

Effect of bile acids on the expression of MRP3 and MRP4: An In vitro study in HepG2 cell line

Suilma Ivette Perez-Pineda et al.

Summary: This study investigated the mRNA and protein expression of MRP4 and MRP3 transporters in an in vitro model of cholestasis using the HepG2 cell line. The results showed that primary bile acids CDCA and CA induce overexpression of MRP4 and MRP3 in response to bile acid overload, playing a crucial role in protective and adaptive responses.
