Multifunctional epoxy composites modified with a graphene nanoplatelet/carbon nanotube hybrid

Sotirios Kopsidas et al.

Summary: Epoxy polymers were modified with a hybrid nanofiller containing graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) at a mass ratio of 9:1, resulting in a significant increase in electrical conductivity and fracture energy. The reduced percolation threshold was attributed to CNTs, while the increased toughness was mainly due to GNPs through crack deflection. The toughening contribution of the hybrid nanofiller was accurately predicted using analytical modeling.
