Preparation and characterization of concentrated γ-Oryzanol nanodispersions by solvent displacement method: Effect of processing conditions on nanoparticles formation

Noamane Taarji et al.

Summary: Concentrated gamma-Oryzanol nanodispersions were successfully prepared using different emulsifiers, showing consistent particle sizes, encapsulation efficiency, and polydispersity index. The study indicated that the dissociation of hydroxyl groups on the structures of gamma-Oryzanol may contribute to the negative zeta-potentials of the nanoparticles.

Nitrocellulose Membrane for Paper-based Biosensor

Ruihua Tang et al.

Summary: Biosensors play an important role in the earlier diagnosis of diseases, food safety, and environment monitoring in resource-limited settings. Paper-based biosensors, utilizing the green and porous material properties of paper, provide a cost-effective, degradable, portable, and flexible platform for various applications. Nitrocellulose membrane, as a promising substrate material, has been extensively used due to its easy protein binding and high efficiency. However, there is a need for a deeper understanding of the research advances and broader applications of nitrocellulose membrane in paper-based biosensors.

Effect of preparation conditions on the size of nanoparticles based on poly (D,L-lactide-co-glycolide) synthesized with bismuth subsalicylate

Ekaterina Razuvaeva et al.

Summary: This study synthesized spherical nano-sized particles of poly(D,L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) using a non-toxic catalyst and a nanoprecipitation method. The effect of formulation parameters on the properties of PLGA particles was investigated. The formation mechanism and stabilization factors of the PLGA particles were proposed and analyzed.

Applications of carboxymethyl cellulose- and pectin-based active edible coatings in preservation of fruits and vegetables: A review

Sima Panahirad et al.

Summary: CMC and pectin are two main polysaccharides with great potential in making edible coatings for fruits and vegetables. These coatings are commonly odorless, tasteless, non-toxic, non-allergic, water-soluble, transparent and resistant to oil and fats. They can also serve as carriers for active additives to prevent unwanted reactions and protect horticultural products during storage.

Solvent impact on polymer nanoparticles prepared nanoprecipitation

Moritz Beck-Broichsitter

Summary: Polymer nanoparticles can be prepared by nanoprecipitation, with the size depending on the choice of organic solvent, polymer concentration, and exchange ratios. The quality of the organic solvent plays a crucial role in determining the size properties of the obtained polymer nanoparticles, emphasizing the importance of systematic solvent selection in nanomedicine.

Ouzo phase occurrence with alternating lipo/hydrophilic copolymers in water

Henrique Trevisan et al.

Summary: The selection of monomer couples with close to zero reactivity ratios, along with the customization of solvent-monomer interactions, has been shown to induce spontaneous copolymerization into nanoparticles with self-assembly properties. The ouzo effect was utilized to study the formation of stable alternating copolymer nanoparticles in water, without the need for stabilizing agents. Characterization techniques such as light scattering and transmission electron microscopy confirmed the successful self-assembly of copolymer chains into nanoparticles, with the size affected by the lipophilicity of the copolymers and solvent properties.
