Magnetocaloric properties at the austenitic Curie transition in Cu and Fe substituted Ni-Mn-In Heusler compounds

Simone Fabbrici et al.

Summary: This study investigates the Curie transition of austenitic Ni-Mn-In full Heusler compounds by replacing Mn atoms with Fe or Cu. It is found that Fe and Cu modify the magnetic moments and interactions, resulting in changes in the Curie temperature and saturation magnetization of the compound. The study successfully synthesizes quinary compounds with tunable Curie temperature and high saturation magnetization, highlighting a promising strategy for designing regenerators for room temperature magnetocaloric applications.

Summary: The effect of substituting FeCo in Ni site on the properties of all-d-metal Heusler alloys is investigated. It is found that the MST temperature shifts towards lower temperature with increasing (FeCo)(x) content, and these alloys exhibit large magnetic entropy change and refrigerant capacity.

Synthesis of highly dense spark plasma sintered magnetocaloric Ni-Mn-Sn alloys from melt-spun ribbons

J. D. Navarro-Garcia et al.

Summary: In this study, nearly 98% dense samples were successfully fabricated using polycrystalline melt-spun ribbons of the magnetocaloric Ni50Mn37Sn13 Heusler alloy via spark plasma sintering. The consolidation process preserved the structural and microstructural properties of the ribbons. The sintered sample showed a moderate shift in martensitic transformation temperature, as well as higher maximum entropy change values compared to the precursor ribbons.
