Origin of ferrimagnetism and the effect of octahedral tilting in double-perovskite compound Sr2CoRuO6

Jun Ding et al.

Summary: Density functional theory simulations were used to study the structure and magnetic properties of double-perovskite Sr2CoRuO6, revealing that rocksalt B-site order is stable under various magnetic configurations and that electronic and magnetic properties are strongly coupled to octahedral tilting. The ground state of rocksalt Sr2CoRuO6 is a C type antiferromagnet with a (0)(0)c(-) tilting, and the presence of ferrimagnetism is attributed to a G type antiferromagnet with a ferrimagnetic moment of 1 mu B per formula unit.
