Polymer-derived preparations of the blue-excited greenish-yellow-emitting calcium-containing ?-Si3N4:Eu-like phosphors

Yaomin Deng et al.

Summary: Polymer-derived greenish-yellow emitting silicon (oxy)nitride phosphors were prepared with specific raw materials, leading to controlled and enhanced emission spectra. The Ca-containing Eu-activated silicon (oxy)nitride sample demonstrated stronger luminescence under blue light excitation, showing potential for application in white light emitting diode devices.

Synthesis, and photoluminescence and magnetic properties of Tb-doped AlN single-crystalline nanobelts

Qiushi Wang et al.

Summary: The Tb-doped AlN nanobelts were successfully prepared using a plasma-assisted arc discharge method, with Tb ions introduced into the lattice structure. These doped nanobelts exhibited distinct emission peaks corresponding to Tb3+ ions and room temperature ferromagnetism, making them ideal for future applications in solid state light-emitting diodes and spintronic nanodevices.

Photoluminescence and optical properties of Eu3+/Eu2+-doped transparent Al2O3 ceramics

R. Klement et al.

Summary: Transparent Eu3+-doped alumina ceramics with fine-grained microstructure were studied for their optical properties and photoluminescence. It was found that light transmission through ceramics at high dopant concentrations is dominated by birefringence scattering at grain boundaries, while high photoluminescence intensity is achieved as a result of dopant segregation at grain boundaries. Luminescence decay in these ceramics was single-exponential with a lifetime around 1.5 ms, and the reduction of Eu3+ to Eu2+ under H2 atmosphere was challenging post-sintering. Additionally, two coexisting Eu2+ emitting PL centers were identified, emitting blue and green light with different decay constants.
