Quantitative Proteome Profiling Provides Insight into the Proteins Associated with β-Glucan Accumulation in Hull-less Barley Grains

Guoqiang Zhang et al.

Summary: This study characterized the proteins associated with beta-glucan (BG) synthesis and accumulation during hull-less barley seed development, revealing key biological processes related to BG accumulation such as cell wall modification, carbon and energy metabolism, and polysaccharide metabolism. The study also identified important proteins involved in BG synthesis and pathways providing energy and reducing power for BG storage. The results provide insights into the mechanisms of BG synthesis and accumulation during hull-less barley seed development.
